This is a response to homeofthegoodguys’ video “Problem Solved!,” in which he was able to solve the problem with his DVD of “The Parent Trap.” For me, if you look at my Fox VHS Collection, …

I Have Windows Xp On My Home Computer. What Do I Need To Do To Upgrade To Windows Vista?

Submitted by admin on October 10, 2009 – 1:58 am7 Comments

I would like to delete windows xp and upgrade. My computer is running slow and I think it has something to do with it being 5 years old. How can I do an upgrade without having to purchase a whole new computer?

If your computer is five years, it is probably NOT capable of running Windows Vista. Plus Vista, on an older PC, runs slower than XP because it is a larger program that uses more memory and hard drive space. You probably do NOT want to try to speed up your PC by going to Vista.
Rather you should start by seeing how much RAM memory in in your computer. (Right click on my computer and go into the properties, and it will list in on the lower right corner of the properties window) If it is 512 mb or less, consider upgrading the memory to 1 gb (same as 1024 mb) or more. Will make a huge difference.
See how much free space is on your hard drive, and if it is beloew 10%, get rid of things, Anything you can move (like music, pictures, videos, etc.) to a CD or DVD, do it. Get rid of any programs you have not used in six months or that duplicate functions (two music players or two grpahic editors). The more you can free, the better. Also run the “disk cleanup” to get rid of any temp files, etc.
Once done freeing space, run a disk defrag. That will rearrange the remaining files into an order that lets your computer run them as fast as possible.
If after that the PC is still slow, you may need to considering formatting the drive and reinstalling Windows XP. Be sure to back up all your pictures, music, videos, and other data files on CD or DVD before you do this, because it will wipe them from the hard drive. Simply insert your Windows CD or Restore Disk, boot the PC and let run the Windows set up.

Before you do that, try this first!!! Go to iobit.com and download Advanced WindowsCare V2 Personal. It’s FREE to keep and use. I guarantee you it’ll boost your performance and make it run like new.Just run the scan and then repair! If you want to Upgrade to Vista make sure you have atleast 2 gigs of RAM and a have way decent Video card as Vista is a grphics intense program and I promise you won’t be happy with the performance unless youe PC has the afore mentioned specs!!! I have Vista Ultimate and LOVE it but I have a hight end home built PC!!

    I think…
vista need 1 gb of RAM, and 64-bit processor, and a big hard drive
but I suggest you to upgrading to 2 gb’s of RAM, and make it’s DDR II (if your computer doesn’t support it, so u must buy a new motherboard too– and sometimes, a new processor)
it’s better if you tell us, about your PC specification

The Vista Upgrade Advisor should help here. It will tell you what you need to upgrade. Alternatively, you could take your computer to a tech store and get advice.

All you have to do is buy a disc called Windows Vista Upgrade.
When you upgrade your files will be lost back-up before you upgrade.

all you need is buy the vista software and install it
